Misdemeanors
A misdemeanor is any crime punishable by imprisonment for less than one year. In Florida, misdemeanors are further divided into classes based on the gravity of the offense committed.

What You Need to Know:
- If you are convicted of a first-degree misdemeanor, you face up to one year of imprisonment and fines up to $1,000.
- If you are convicted of a second-degree misdemeanor, you face a maximum of 60 days of imprisonment and fines up to $500.
- If you are convicted of several misdemeanor charges, then you may be classified as a Habitual Misdemeanor Offender (four offenses in the past year) and could face between six months to 364 days in jail.
